Hi my name is John, and I’m a 56 year old “Retired” Highway Patrol Sergeant, but most people in the fitness industry know me as Mr. Clean! The inspiration behind Mr. Clean was due to several reasons. Yes, I kind of resemble the Mr. Clean “Guy”, but my kids and their friends loved to make fun of my bald head, and they thought it was hilarious to call me Mr. Clean. But then, my co-workers also called me Mr. Clean because I always ate really clean food, and I was really committed to fitness. Well, the name just kind of stuck over the years and I’ve been rolling with it ever since.
I was actually born in Omaha, Nebraska, but because my father was in the Air Force we moved around a lot, and we spent an exceptional amount of time in Okinawa, Japan, and I even graduated high school from there. Shortly after graduating from high school, I moved to southern California and attended college and earned a B.S. degree in Business Finance from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.
A few years after graduating college, I felt a strong desire to join the law enforcement community, so I applied to the California Highway Patrol and was honored to be accepted into their academy. I spent over 20 years working for the California Highway Patrol in many different capacities including earning a promotion to Sergeant. I retired from the department in 2018 and moved to Texas shortly thereafter where I currently reside.
Despite working in a very physically demanding and stressful profession that also required me to work very long and odd hours, I was still able to maintain not only a healthy diet but also a very fit physique throughout my entire career.
